Like Mother Like Daughter

Maybe mommy is the one with the issues? 

Maybe mommy and daddy need to believe in their daughter, 

maybe then she will believe in herself

or maybe mommy and daddy need to talk with their daughter

and maybe better understand her, thus minimizing their fears

or maybe mommy and daddy need not be so critical of their daughter
and allow her to become a mature young lady

or maybe their daughter is just a psychopath.
in either case I say,
